Doug Bandow is a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute. He also is a former Visiting Fellow at the Heritage Foundation. He served as a Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan and as a Senior Policy Analyst in the 1980 Reagan for President campaign.
He is a weekly columnist for The American Conservative. He also writes regularly for National Interest online, American Spectator online, National Review online, and other online publications. Previously a columnist for Huffington Post, Forbes online, and Antiwar.com, a nationally syndicated columnist with Copley News Service, and editor of the monthly political magazine Inquiry, he also has been widely published in such periodicals as Time, Newsweek, Fortune, Christianity Today, Foreign Policy, Harper’s, National Interest, National Review, New Republic, Orbis, and World, as well as leading newspapers including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post.
Bandow has written and edited several books, including Foreign Follies: America’s New Global Empire (Xulon Press), The Korean Conundrum: America’s Troubled Relations with North and South Korea (Palgrave/Macmillan, coauthor), Tripwire: Korea and U.S. Foreign Policy in a Changed World (Cato), Perpetuating Poverty: The World Bank, the IMF, and the Developing World (Cato, coeditor), and The Politics of Plunder: Misgovernment in Washington.
He has also appeared on numerous radio and television programs, including ABC Nightly News, Fox News, MSNBC, CBS Evening News, CNN Crossfire, CNN Larry King Live, Good Morning America, Nightline, and the Oprah Winfrey Show. He received his B.S. in Economics from Florida State University in 1976 and his J.D. from Stanford University in 1979.
